2025 Program

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2025

8:00 AM | Breakfast

Join your peers for breakfast and networking.

9:00 AM | Welcome Remarks and Indigenous Opening

Welcome by TBD

Master of Ceremonies, TBD

The conference kicks off with welcoming remarks and an introduction to the 2025 theme, Energy and the Quantum Advantage.

9:15 AM | Decentralised Energy - Annual State of the Industry

Anouk Kendall, President, Decentralised Energy Canada

9:45 AM | Announce Innovation Challenge Winners

City of Medicine Hat: TBD

Quantum Comupting: TBD

10:15 AM | Evolving Data Requirements for Decentralised Energy Solutions

TBD

We are generating vast amounts of data from our energy systems and the ever-increasing complexity of that data is challenging classical computing capabilities. Further, the power demands required to support our data needs will have significant impacts on power availability and affordability for the rest of society. This session explores the various ways that quantum computing can manage complex data and reduce its power needs.

10:45 AM | Coffee Break

Join your peers for coffee and networking.

11:00 AM | Finalists - Pitch Competition Part 1

Pitch Host, Randy Thompson, CEO, Valhalla Private Capital

Hear about breakthrough innovations and entrepreneurs - first four pitches.

12:00 PM | Lunch

Enjoy lunch with your peers.

1:00 PM | Quantum Computing Applications

TBD

Conventional or classic computing processes information in the form of digital bits (0s and 1s), while quantum computing deploys quantum bits (qubits) to store quantum information in values between 0 and 1. Quantum computing can simulate and optimise large volumes of complex data with variable inputs. This session investigates ideal applications for quantum computing in decentralised energy and when it is more practical to use classic computing methods.

2:00 PM | Demand Response for Distribution Network Optimisation

TBD

Advanced metering infrastructure and the use of grid sensors for network health and load management has enabled the collection of extensive data at the distribution level. Traditional data analytics methods are not effectively using this data to optimise system operations. Industry experts will share the latest information about the use of demand response mechanisms in distribution network optimisation and some of the computing challenges that are hindering progress.

3:30 PM | Business to Business Matchmaking

A facilitated session where you can identify and connect with strategic partners, customers and other professionals that can support your business. You will meet new business partners and negotiate real projects.

5:00 PM | Cocktail Reception

Enjoy networking, food & cocktails, and a musical performance (TBD).

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2025

8:15 AM | Breakfast

Breakfast and networking.

9:00 AM | Welcome Remarks

Master of Ceremonies, TBD

A recap of day one and welcome for day two of the program.

9:10 AM | KEYNOTE – Cyber security

TBD

Explore the impact of quantum computing in digital security and discover strategies to safeguard data against future powered threats.

9:30 AM | TBD

TBD

10:30 AM | Boozy Brunch

Enjoy a little something special with your coffee break.

11:00 AM | Finalists - Pitch Competition Part 2

Pitch Host, Randy Thompson, CEO, Valhalla Private Capital

Hear about breakthrough innovations and entrepreneurs - last four pitches.

12:00 PM | Lunch and Nature Walk

A nature walk with lunch.

1:15 PM | Quantum Computing for Emissions Reduction Quantification and Monitoring

TBD

Quantum technology may offer a promising solution for measuring and monitoring the environmental impacts of decentralised energy systems. By enabling simultaneous monitoring of multiple sites using remote sensor technology, quantum computing could revolutionise our understanding environmental impacts including life cycle emissions quantification and monitoring.

2:15 PM | Emerging Business Models

TBD

Evolving utility ownership structures and data-enabled energy management solutions are spurring new business models such as peer-to-peer energy trading, community self-consumption, and transactive energy. These new business models are transforming how we buy, sell, and value electricity. This session will explore the opportunities and challenges that these new business models bring.

3:15 PM | Investor Pitch Winners and Package Giveaway Close

TBD

4:15 PM | Closing Remarks

TBD
